Iyanya Mbuk says he is signed solely to Temple Music, confirming his speculated exit from the Don Jazzy-led Mavin Records.

The singer made the disclosure Wednesday morning during an interview on Beat FM.

When asked to comment on his current record label, Iyanya said: “I’m now signed to Temple Music but I’m a Mavin for life.

Harping on the circumstances surrounding his departure from Mavin, he said, “It was not a beef. I was there and it was time to move on”.

When Iyanya joined Mavin in October 2016, Temple Music was not in existence. His affairs were handled by Temple Management Company.

At the time, the singer said he made the move to become a better singer and to work with ace producer Don Jazzy.

Temple Music was launched in August 2017, with 9ice, Bisola Aiyeola, DJ Jimmy Jatt, named among the pioneer artistes.

Speaking further during the Beat FM interview, Iyanya explained why there’s been a “dramatic change” in his sound.

“I like to try new sounds,” he said and attributed the change to “working with different producers, writers. The fan base has grown, I have fans here and abroad.

“Some people like the new sound but some people are stuck in the old sound.”

Iyanya credited Don Jazzy for helping with the evolution of his music. “Shout out to Don Jazzy. He influenced my new sound,” he said.

In an interview, Dr Sid praised Iyanya’s work ethic, and described him as “the best thing to happen to Mavin Records”.

At the time, he said Iyanya had “recorded over 50 songs in less than three months”.

In 2017, Iyanya released ‘Signature’, an eight-track EP which included songs like ‘Up 2 Something’ and ‘Hold On’.

‘Signature’ was produced by Don Jazzy and two other producers on Mavin’s roster; Altims and Baby Fresh.

BBNaija: Sexual consent takes centre stage, Tobi remains head of house

Published

on

The housemates’ true characters, attitudes, leanings, and dispositions are unfolding pretty fast in the Big Brother Naija house.

Recent events, particularly the unexpected mock nominations, has divided the housemates, with alliances being formed and strategies being shaped.

Arguably the most important activity of late was a task which centred on sexual consent, a thorny issue in the society, and on the show.

Last year, Kemen was disqualified from the reality show for making a sexual move on TBoss while she was asleep. The incident led to a heated debate among the housemates and Nigerians on social media.

A few days into the new BBNaija show, Bitto was summoned by Big Brother after he was seen attempting to cuddle a female contestant, Princess, without invitation.

Bitto had snuggled up to Princess in her bed as she tried to sleep, and although she initially tried to ward him off, she eventually relaxed and engaged him a conversation.

That incident again threw up the debate on sexual consent, and Big Brother, on Tuesday, decided to hand the housemates a task on the subject.

The housemates were asked to discuss sexual consent through a radio drama and pantomime — and they did justice to it.

Vandora, BamBam, Anto and Princess were among those who shared their experience and standpoint on the issue.

Meanwhile, Tobi won the head of house title for the second straight week while Khloe, Alex, Cee-C and Ifu Ennada got involved in a heated argument.

As opposed to the earlier reported N45 million, the winner of the show is expected to take home N25 million and a sports utility vehicle.
