Pastor E. A. Adeboye lays foundation for International Worship Centre in Uyo

Published

on

Despite strong criticism, the Akwa Ibom State Government has gone ahead to lay the foundation for the ultra-modern 8,500 capacity International Worship Centre in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

The foundation laying exercise was conducted by Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the Senior Pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God before the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel and a host of Christian faithful across the State.

Location for the million-naira edifice is at Banking Layout, off Udo Udoma Avenue, Uyo, and upon completion, the religious structure would function as a point of congregation for all religious activities within and outside Akwa Ibom State.

Governor Udom Emmanuel who spoke at the foundation laying ceremony described the occasion as spiritual, and performed to fulfil the vision of those he called ‘founding fathers’. These founding fathers, he said, had named the State after God and committed her affairs into his hands.

Reading from Psalms chapter 127, The Governor explained that the decision to raise an Altar for God was an avenue of attracting more of his divine blessings on the Akwa Ibom State. He spoke about the State, being an indivisible entity whose strong cords cannot be severed by politics and tribal sentiments.

The Governor appreciated Pastor Adeboye for responding to the State’s invitation and laying the foundation for the building. He also thanked the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and other religious bodies for their support and called on all-and-sundry to contribute meaningfully towards the development of the building.

In his sermon, Pastor E. A. Adeboye lauded the Akwa Ibom State Government for deeming it fit to provide a befitting edifice for the worship of God, likening the Governor to the biblical Solomon who built a temple for God.

The State Chairman of CAN (Christian Association of Nigeria), Rev. Dr. Ndueso Ekwere also offered his goodwill message on the occasion, and expressed delight that Akwa Ibom can now be counted among the States with a befitting worship arena.

Church Elders Engage Pastor in Physical Combat as another Ordination Ends in Fiasco in Uyo

Akin to the infamous Reigners Church ordination which ended as a tragedy, knowledge about the occurrence of yet another woeful ordination at Wua Iboe Church this  time around is circulating on print and social media.

The unresolved issues involving the Qua Oboe Church would be said to be far from over as the ordination service that was scheduled to take place today at 112 Ikot Ekpene road turned soar as Elders and Deacons of the Church turned the pulpit into a battle field.

News correspondent  who were in the church during the ugly incident have disclosed that the ordination of Elders by the Resident Pastor, Ibup Emma did not go down well with the rest of the Elders as they vehemently opposed raising their voice even while service was ongoing, thereby turning the church into a rowdy football pictures.

The Elders who stood up from their seats, approach the Resident Pastor in a bid to stop the ordination and were shouting on top of their voices “no, no, no, no”. All these were captured on the numerous television screens around the church. Pastor Ibup Emma on being harassed by the opposing elders used the Microphone to call on the security forces, DSS to come in and rescue the situation. This caused majority of the congregation to scamper for safety as some had to leave the church while others stayed to watch events unfold.

A reliable source within who pleaded for anonymity also divulged that the Elders opposed the ordination as the resident pastor did not get the approval of the church committee. It would be recalled that the church has been engulfed in irreconcilable differences with name change controversy with a section answering Qua Iboe Church of Nigeria and the other answering Qua Iboe Church, Nigeria with United Evangelical Church as an appendix.

Akwa Ibom State governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel who is a member of the church, had about a year ago made an effort to broker peace by reconciling Qua Iboe Church of Nigeria and United Evangelical Church into one conference. The peace which held at government house had leadership of the two conferences in attendance.

The governor had noted that what was perceived as division in the church was not really a division but a disagreement on the name to be used for evangelism added that they were charting a way forward towards resolving the issue ” .

Nigerians; A threat to the holy land?

Published

on

The negative perception by most members of the international community about Nigerians is gradually becoming a serious issue of concern to well-meaning citizens in the country.

Prelate Isaiah Issong, General Overseer of the Believers Assembly and board member, Nigerian Christian  Pilgrims Welfare Board, (NCPWB) Akwa Ibom State chapter expressed utter displeasure at the way Nigerian Pilgrims were embarrassed and tagged ‘security threats’ at Jerusalem while on pilgrimage.

The clergyman who was also a contingent to the holy land narrated how the tour guides disdainfully treated the Nigerian pilgrims and called on Policymakers in the country to come up with measures that would wipe the dent off the faces of innocent Nigerians, especially in the diaspora.

In the Prelate’s words, he said;

”When we arrived the holy land we were never addressed as a Nigerians but Boko Haram and Militants.

“Nobody sees anything good about a Nigerian. Once you come in contact with even fellow pilgrims from other countries you are welcomed with embarrassing questions relating to the fight against Corruption and insurgency.

“Outside this country, every Nigerian, no matter how highly placed is seen as a potential criminal. Once any foreigner sees you with a green passport you are dreaded and branded a heartless and dubious criminal suspect. We were exposed to ridicule and great embarrassment.”

Prelate Issong blamed this ill perception by the international community on the negative reports they receive about Nigerians, and therefore called on all to have a change of mindset, and also work positively and in dedication to the Nigerian project.

Nigerian Pastor Charges Nigerians to Defend Themselves Against Killers

Published

on

Head Pastor, Dunamis International Gospel Centre (DIGC), Abuja, Dr Paul Enenche, has declared that it was high time people started defending themselves against Killers hiding under the veil of politics or religion according to Daily Post.

The outspoken preacher affirmed that people would no longer fold their arms and watch others maim and waste them for no reason.

The message came barely 24 hours after he had poured out his heart on killings in Benue, Taraba States and other parts of the country.

In his message, he pointed to how God humbled former Libyan dictator, Muammar Gaddafi when he tried to call for the disintegration of Nigeria some years back.

He said: “It is time for us to pray to God to whom vengeance belongs to show himself in Nigeria. One of the greatest challenges that can happen on earth is the challenge of ignorance.

“I am sure you are aware of what I may call the war of attrition from a certain select group of people that want to relentlessly and continuously attack and weary communities into submission in Nigeria.

“But I announce that anybody who is interested in the destruction of Nigeria, destruction shall never leave his generation.

“Whoever and wherever that person is, either in this nation or outside this land because our history told us that nobody ever interested in the destruction of Nigeria ever survived.

“I know of a man called Gaddafi (of Libya), who about the years 2010/2011 was dictating what should happen in Nigeria. At a point, he suggested that Nigeria should be divided along religious line.

“And there seemed to be suggestions that he had a hand in what was happening in the nation as at then – to destroy lives. But the question is, where is Gaddafi and his generation today?

“I said this as a signal to anybody across the length and breadth of this nation that anyone interested in the wastage of Nigeria, may God waste him and his generation.

“In Benue, just yesterday, about 75 people were given a mass burial because of some satanic vagabonds but enough is enough.

“Let me say two things before we pray because we have a high level of ignorance.

“Nobody has the right to take another man’s life either it is in the name of religion or politics, or cultism. Under Our constitution, the right to life is guaranteed under section 33 sub section 1 of the 1999 constitution as amended.

It says: “everybody has the right to life and no one shall be deprived intentionally of his life safe in execution of the sentence of a court in respect if a criminal of which he has been found guilty in Nigeria.”

“I announced that anybody wasting lives in this nation, the same way shall his generation be wasted. Now, hear this, whatever a person does to prevent himself from being killed is not an offence. It is in the constitution.

“Section 59 of the penal code says, nothing is an offence of which is done in the lawful exercise of the right of private defense.

“Also, section 60 of the penal code is also provides that; “The right of private defense extends to; (a) the defense of his own body and body of any other person against any offense affecting the human body.

(b) the property either movable or immovable of himself or of any other person against any act which is an offence under the definition of theft, robbery, mischief or criminal trespass or which is an attempt to commit any of those offences.

“In other word, it is not an offence for someone to defend himself or another from being killed.

“So what is the useless nonsense about those who think they have the claim to take life at will and go unarrested and, unharassed. The end of it has come. Enough is enough.

Lets back it up from the bible. “Gen 9:6 says, who Whoever sheds man’s blood, By man his blood shall be shed; For in the image of God He made man, so sheded man’s blood by man.

“Meaning the killer is qualified for killing. That action is not an offence because he came to finish people and the people gathered and finished him. Those people did nothing wrong.

“Exodus 22:2 summed it up thus: If a thief be found breaking up, and be smitten that he die, there shall no blood be shed for him.

“Whoso diggeth a pit shall fall therein: and he that rolleth a stone, it will return upon him. Proverbs 26:27.

“Also in Rev 13:1 “He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity; he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.

“Did you read what the penal code said, “you are entitled to defend yourself and another person around, against attackers, and you want to watch them waste your wife and children?

“They went into one house, pulled down everybody, ripped woman’s pregnancy open, plucked out the eyes of a little boy and left him alive with the two eyes plucked out. Enough is enough.

“Let’s look at what Jesus said about self defense.

“Matthew 26:51-52. And, behold, one of them which were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest’s, and smote off his ear. Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.

“From what we read, are you not surprise a disciple was following Jesus with a knife?

“Jesus never asked him to throw away the knife, Jesus never questioned him how he got the sword, Jesus was never surprised that his own disciple was going about with him with a knife. He didn’t tell him, why go about with a knife, don’t you believe in prayers?

“Don’t be deceived, everything people need is in the Bible.

“I thought Jesus would be surprised seeing his own disciple carrying a knife, but rather, he told him to keep the knife back, for this occasion I am meant to die. He said don’t use it now, keep it back because you may need it later

“And I am not asking you to use it to fight or attack people, but in case they come near you…

“Also in Luke 22:35-36 “And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing.

“Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.

“It means a time will come when the sword would be more important than the garment. Let me make this clear, there shall be no war in Nigeria but no demonic vagabond shall take anybody for granted in this nation anymore. Enough is enough.

“I don’t want to be misunderstood, no Nigerian is as patriotic as me. We have been praying for this nation and we won’t stop doing that.”

China solidifies grip on power, destroys church as part of religious reforms

Published

on

(Akwa Ibom INFO) – A Christian megachurch has been destroyed by authorities in Northern China in a move labelled by a religious rights group as “Taliban-style persecution”.

The evangelical Jindengtai (“Golden Lampstand”) Church was located in Linden, Shanxi province. It was described as a huge edifice painted grey with turrets and a large red cross

Its demolition began on Tuesday under “a city-wide campaign to remove illegal buildings”, the Global Times newspaper quoted an anonymous local government official.

“A Christian offered his farmland to a local Christian association and they secretly built a church using the cover of building a warehouse,” the unknown official said.

Bob Fu, president of a US-based religious rights group ChinaAid Association, said:

“A multitude of military police were mobilised and engaged (in) the destruction by burying a large amount of explosives under the church. It is like Taliban/ISIS style of persecution against a peaceful church,” he added.

The house of worship was “primarily destroyed because it refused to register” with the Communist authorities, Fu said.

The demolition comes as authorities get set to implement new, stricter regulations on religion which will be enforced February 1. This is part of the state’s aim of putting religion under its direct supervision.
