Udom Emmanuel Intimidated by the Rising Political Profile of Emmanuel Ekon

“A golden fish has no hiding place”
The account of the biblical Joseph in the book of Genesis is an account that tells us that no matter human machinations against a man who has been destined for greatness, he will surely be made a great man.

Yesterday, the 7th day of April 2018, was another day in the history of a state where a sitting governor demonstrated fear over a rising political profile of a man whose performance has surpassed imaginations of antics of superlative performance, including the governor Udom himself.

It is now on record that since the existence of Abak federal constituency, there has never been a representative with such a huge positive impact on the constituents as the present representation of Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ekon. Ranging from human capacity development, infrastructure renaissance and intellectual development. His competency, dexterity, tenacity and prowess as a member of the House of Representatives has received accolades from across the country and the world.

In April 2018, the Akwa Ibom State council of Nigeria Union of Journalists, after careful consideration of Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ekon as a legislator, nominated him for a merit award and was presented to him during this year’s world press freedom day. As a legislator whose concerns are that of using the platform he occupies today for service and development of his constituency, state and the nation at large, continues to do what he knows how to do better.

The Akwa Ibom state council of Nigeria Union of Journalists again has to nominate him again for an award. This time, he was nominated because of his superlative performances. That of April was a merit award and now an award on performance. His nomination for this award was done without his knowledge not until a letter of notification was sent to him by the council.

When this development got to a non performing governor Udom Emmanuel, he rose against it. Immediately, leadership of the NUJ were summoned by the government and told in clear terms to withdraw the award or they would cut ties with the Council including the sponsorship of the program. The governor became very upset about the decision of the NUJ to honor the Lawmaker with such prestigious award when according to him, he was ganging up with Senator Godswill Akpabio to frustrate his second term ambition. See fear and intimidation!

It is a very disgraceful story of a governor dabbling into the affairs of an independent Union in the name of playing politics. I advise that the governor should be more concerned with how he would win votes and not the intimidation of the Journalists. One of the Union members said “We are not happy that the government is interfering in our activities. If they have issues, they should find a way and settle without using our platform to grind their axes.

The question is, does his order to withdraw the award that which will make Udom not to fail the 2019 gubernatorial election? No! His defeat is eminently staring at his face. His order to withdraw the award cannot also stop the people of Abak Federal Constituency from overwhelmingly giving their unalloyed supports to a man who has rewritten the history of the federal constituency in terms of effective and efficient representation.

BREAKING: Group Slams Suspended Abak Chair, Imoh Williams for Lying to AKHA Committee

A Group, the Abak Conscience on Saturday lambasted Suspended Abak Local Government Chairman, Barr. Imoh Williams over what it termed an attempt by the embattled council helmsman to pervert the investigations of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly ad-hoc committee over the assault of Mr. Godwin Abraham.

In a statement made available to newsmen, leader of the group, Mr. Mfon Udofia claimed that Barr. Imoh Williams while appearing before the committee embarked on a lying mission to justify the dastardly act which caused a major dent on Abak Local Government and Akwa Ibom State at large.

Passing a vote of no confidence on Barr. Williams, the group claimed that “drawing from public opinion, Barr. Imoh Williams does not honour financial obligations and lacks the personage to be an elected public officer.

“First Barr. Imoh Williams has admitted that he knows Mr. Abraham and that he worked for him. The question every discerning person should ask Mr. Williams is why he would owe an artisan for that long. This goes further to assuage the Barr. Imoh William’s level of cruelty.”

“Secondly, Barr. Imoh Williams cannot deny that he was not aware of several pleas and demands by Mr. Godwin Abraham for his money to be paid. The said Abraham has met him severally but instead, Imoh ordered him to leave his office.”

Describing Imoh Williams as a cruel emperor, the group further claimed that from facts available, “Mr. Abraham went further to send emissaries to him and even published his ordeal on social media, all to no avail”. “We therefore state in unambiguous terms that the suspended Chairman deliberately refused to pay him, a claim corroborated by the confessional statement of Mr. Uduak Aniekan Sam, who carried out the assault that “Barr. Imoh Williams was visibly angry because Mr. Abraham dared to demand for his payment and so he (Imoh Williams) vowed not to pay him.”

“Barr. Imoh William’s denial that he neither sent nor was aware of the assault of Mr. Godwin Abraham at the council premises is childish, laughable and mischievous. It is even insulting for Imoh Williams to concoct such tissues of lies because in a video, Mr. Godswill Alele confessed that the suspended Chairman complained of people embarrassing him and instructed him to deal with such persons if he wants to get money for his education, an instruction he eventually carried out on Imoh William’s orders.”

The group queried why Mr. Uduak Aniekan Dan would assault Mr. Abraham if not to impress his boss. “What does Alele stand to gain from assaulting Mr. Abraham who he has no personal grudge with? Mr. Godswill Alele has clearly demonstrated that he acted on instruction. According to him “After carrying out the act, I sent the video to him on WhatsApp for confirmation but also asked him to pay Mr. Godwin’s money but the Chairman said he’s not owing the boy. He mobilised me and Ukpanah with N5,000 to start the job, the following day after seeing the video, he sent N20,000 to Ukpanah through his Access Bank account, after two weeks he also gave me N30,000 to pay my fees afterwards.”

The group described it as the height of hypocrisy for the suspended Chairman to turnaround and issue a statement suspending Alele when the concealed video of the crime of which he was aware months earlier went viral.

“Mr. Godwin Abraham was assaulted by Godswill Alele on 13th April, 2019, same day Barr. Imoh Williams received the video but took no action. On May 17, Mr. Abraham posted the assault video on Facebook detailing how he was assaulted by One Godswill Alele at the Council premises because he made public demands for payment of monies owed him by the suspended Chairman, yet Imoh Williams did not suspend Mr. Godswill Alele but went on to bail him after Mr. Godwin Abraham reported the matter to the police.”

Challenging Imoh Williams to name the opposition politicians he claimed sponsored Alele to make a confessional, the group described Barr. Imoh Williams as a “drowning man in search of an anchor” and reiterated that the assault is roundly condemned by all irrespective of political affiliations.

The group urged Barr. Imoh Williams to tow the path of honour and own up to his actions, rather than belabour to proof his vague innocence. It also called on the “international community to closely monitor the investigations because if Barr. Imoh Williams is allowed to get away with this atrocity and God forbid, return as the the Chairman of Abak Local Government Area, it will serve as a licence to more brutal conduct and a precedent for anarchy.”

The group expressed confidence that Governor Udom Emmanuel will resist overtures to save “Barr. Imoh Williams and urged the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly ad-hoc committee to refuse any attempt to corrupt or politicise the investigations, disown Imoh William’s lies and send him packing as the whole world is watching.”

Recall that the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly had suspended the Chairman of Abak Local Government Area, Imoh Williams over allegation of assault.

The video of the assault of Godwin Abraham had trended in social media.

Efforts to reach the Mr. Williams for comments were unsuccessful prior to publication of this story.

Call Ini EmemObong to order, Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District Youths Tell A”Ibom Elders

The youths of Ikot of under the aegis of The Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District Youths Coalition (IKSDYC) today urge Akwa Ibom State Elders to call State Publicity Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Ini EmemObong to order over what they term as tantrums and verbal invectives against Senator Godswill Akpabio.

In a communique released to Akwa Ibom INFO after its congress meeting held at the Godswill Akpabio Skills Acquisition Centre, Ikot Ekpene, the youths condemned and warned that in the eventuality that they fail to take heed, they will have no other option than to commence a grand campaign of calumny against their sponsors.

Read Full Communique Below

The Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District Youths Coalition (IKSDYC) held its congress today Friday, 24th May, 2019 at the Godswill Akpabio Skills Acquisition Centre, Ikot Ekpene LGA to deliberate on critical issues capable of heating the polity and affecting our democratic co-existence – a path we have chosen to walk on since the inception of our fourth democratic dispensation in 1999. As youth stakeholders who are directly concerned with the matters and overall stability of our senatorial district and state at large, we are duty-bound to respond and have unequivocally resolved as follows:

1. That we place on record, the unflinching solidarity of the youths of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District for keeping faith with the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the resounding support demonstrated by voting en-masse for President Muhammadu Buhari (GCFR), our leader, Distinguished Senator Godswill Akpabio, Obong Nsima Ekere and other candidates fielded by our party in the last general elections despite series of provocations, wanton intimidations and demonic schemings of a few political desperadoes.

2. That although the conduct and outcome of the election was not what we all hoped for owing to the grand collusion of the electoral umpire and political mercinaries who wish to perpetually enslave our people, we are resolute and confident of reclaiming our legitimate mandates through the honourable courts as justice will be served in our favour.

3. That we note with a deep sense of trepidation, the rash of mudslingings by the State Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ini Ememobong – a shameless turncoat and persona non grata, all in attempts to disparage the person of His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Godswill Akpabio, CON, through wild, fictitious and unsubstantiated allegations since his movement to the All Progressives Congress on August 8th, 2018, an action we staunchly believe was to make life better and more meaningful for our people, especially our youths.

4. That because of our disposition as peace and bridge builders, we had decided to ignore all the tantrums and invectives of Ini Ememobong hoping that he would one day wake up to the reality that leadership comes from God and He alone is at liberty to give power to whom He prefers. But given the recent gale of gutter language strategy which has become a more frequent staple of statements from the PDP henchmen, we are left with no option than to respond to the dog whistles of Mr. Ememobong, a character descending into a denigrating echelon in other to eke out a living.

5. That in an attempt to gloat over the pyrrhic victory of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the last general elections – an election that will go down in history as the biggest, most elaborate fraud executed by the Resident Electoral Commissioner of INEC, Mr. Ini Ememobong has demonstrated the utter misadventure the publicity secretary role has turned out for him. Not that we detest his right to being a puppet and hatchet man, but condescending to obvious illogicality, falsity and demented fallacies against Senator Godswill Akpabio is totally unacceptable.

6. We have been of the conviction that since the electoral heists were over, the focus of Akwa Ibom people should have shifted to real time business of governance but sadly, the purveyors of mischief have chosen to expand the frontiers of divisiveness, character assassination, industrialization propaganda, ethnic bigotry, monetary inducement which heralded the campaign period, a far departure from the verifiable accomplishments of Senator Godswill Akpabio which remains unparalleled since the creation of the state and earned him the sobriquet “uncommon Transformer” which he is known and fondly addressed across the world.

7. It is worthy of note that one of Senator Godswill Akpabio’s greatest achievements in public life includes but not limited to the discovery, nurturing and development of young people, of which Ini Ememobong is a beneficiary of Senator Akpabio’s magnanimity. We are very certain that Ini Ememobong cannot give a sincere account of his achievements in life from his days in NANS up to his first experience as Personal Assistant to a State Governor and his current political office without crediting at least 80percent to Senator Akpabio, whom he today takes great pleasure in insulting, besmirching and denigrating at the slightest opportunity.

8. We note with great consternation that this perpetual onslaught has been going on unhindered under the watch of the State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), Obong Paul Ekpo – a man who Senator Godswill Akpabio had to practically ‘breathed life into’, after he was pronounced dead by the very people who now display pretentious loyalty. We are forced to ask: is there no sensible limits to politicking? Is it that the duo (Ini Ememobong and Obong Paul Ekpo) have been struck with chronic amnesia, which is the bane of their insolence and ingratitude? Not that we desire their loyalty to Senator Godswill Akpabio, but we at least demand effective from the release of this communique, that maximum decorum and sanity should not be thrown overboard in a bid to score cheap political points.

9. It is in this light that we urge the concerned Elders of Akwa Ibom State to save Akwa Ibom from a needless imbroglio and urge His Excellency Mr. Udom Emmanuel and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to caution their attack dogs to desist forthwith from insulting Senator Akpabio and creating a chaotic political atmosphere as nobody has the monopoly for mischief. In the eventuality that they fail to take heed, we will have no other option than to commence a grand campaign of calumny against their sponsors but we do not hope to travel through this pathway.

10. In connection to this, we hereby pass a vote of confidence on Senator Godswill Akpabio as the leader of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District and restate our unalloyed loyalty, solidarity and absolute support to continue his laudable strides for the people of Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria at large.

11. Although it seems like an emerging trend that most Publicity Secretaries of ruling political parties at either the State or National level are privileged to be appointed as Commissioner for Information or Minister for Information at the disposition of the Governor or President, such does not come with the level of desperation and infantile display of unmitigated arrogance of Ini Ememobong. As a parting shot, we urge Ini Ememobong to channel his energy towards actualising his fascist agenda of becoming Commissioner for Information and subsequently Mr. Udom Emmanuel’s successor as he claims in different foras. We expect that Mr. Udom Emmanuel will impose him on Akwa Ibom people in 2023 as a fitting reward for a hatchet job, which the people of Akwa Ibom shall vehemently resist.

The communique was endorsed by over 100 eminent leaders of the coalition drawn various parts of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District.

Be ready for defeat, stop crying wolf, Akpabio replies A’Ibom PDP Elders

Former Senate Minority Leader and Senator representing Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District, Senator Godswill Akpabio has asked Akwa Ibom PDP Elders and Stakeholders to be ready for defeat and stop crying wolf.

In a press statement made available to Akwa Ibom INFO by his Special Assistant on Media, Anietie Ekong, the Senator berated so-called Elders for calling a press conference to spew lies and falsehood and make a crude attempt to blackmail President Muhammadu Buhari, all in the name of politics.

The attention of the former Senate Minority Leader and Senator representing Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District, Senator Godswill Akpabio has been drawn to some spurious, baseless and unfounded statements credited to some self-acclaimed Akwa Ibom Elders and Stakeholders on the forth-coming election.

It beats our imagination that the so-called Elders could call a press conference to spew lies and falsehood and make a crude attempt to blackmail President Muhammadu Buhari, all in the name of politics. But it follows a familiar pattern of crying wolf since the defection of Senator Akpabio to the All Progressives Congress (APC.)

It is most nonsensical and idiotic for anyone to claim that Senator Akpabio held a meeting with unnamed security agencies in the state and informed them that Mr President has given permission for him to “kill and maim all opponents and that nothing will happen to any officer who carries out the instruction.”

For the records, Senator Akpabio never held any such meeting with anyone as alleged. On what basis would he hold such a meeting when he is neither a Governor nor the head of any security agency? In any case Nigerians know that security agencies have chains of command and can therefore not take orders from private persons.

President Buhari is a responsible leader who is committed to the well being of all Nigerians and could not have given any instructions on innocent Nigerians to be maimed and killed. It is most irresponsible politics to drag in the name of the President. This false accusation against the President is most disgusting and repugnant to good conscience and national interest.

It is obvious that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is playing the victim complex because of the impending defeat that awaits them in the forth-coming elections in Akwa Ibom State. Their strategy of crying wolf is a pretext to blackmail security agencies, distract them and procure leverage to bring thugs to operate during the elections.

It is instructive that during the botched Presidential and National Assembly elections, security agencies apprehended over 400 armed thugs, who confessed when they were paraded at the State Police Headquarters that they were hired by PDP chieftains to snatch ballot boxes and intimidate voters.

Our suspicion is that this latest antics by the PDP Elders may be another attempt to cow, blackmail and distract security agents as we have reliably gathered that they have planned to bring in more thugs during elections. They are particularly angry that Mr President has directed security agencies to deal ruthlessly with thugs and ballot box snatchers so they seek to divert public attention and that of vigilant security agents while preparing grounds for the execution of their nefarious plot.

Having campaigned vigorously in every nook and cranny of Akwa Ibom State and with the enthusiasm shown by Akwa Ibom people, Senator Akpabio is very confident of victory for his party. The APC as a party in Akwa Ibom State is ready for free, fair and peaceful elections despite the boasts of these same PDP Elders that they have enough money to compromise every state institution. Those who have chosen to remain professional in their line of duties or refused to be pocketed by them risk being blackmailed by them as they have done.

Senator Akpabio calls on all members and supporters of the APC to remain vigilant and conduct themselves peacefully and go out to exercise their civic duty without fear of intimidation as the President has deployed enough security for their protection before, during and after the elections. The wailing of these self-acclaimed Elders cannot stop their impending defeat at the polls.

Special Assistant (Media) to Senator Godswill Akpabio

PDP plotting electoral violence in Abak, Etim Ekpo, Ika Federal Constituency – APC Leaders

Ofonime Honesty | Uyo

•Say Emmanuel Enoidem is a blackmailer

•He’s PDP National Illegal Adviser -Ekpoudom

Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abak -Etim Ekpo -Ika Federal Constituency of Akwa Ibom State have raised alarm over an alleged plot by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to perpetrate violence during the rescheduled general elections in the area.

Addressing a press conference in Abak, Wednesday, the APC leaders said an earlier press conference held in Abak at the instance of Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem, PDP’s National Legal Adviser, “was just a diversionary tactic intended to cover up a well-perfected plot to destabilize the conduct of a peaceful elections in the Federal Constituency.”

The APC press statement read by Hon. Innocent Idiong, former Chairman, Abak Local Government Council, described as misleading and disheartening, PDP’s allegation of planned assassination of some of its members as well as claims that APC members and candidates are stockpiling arms and ammunitions ahead of the elections.

“We are upset that after importing thugs to come and unleash mayhem on the good people of Abak/Etim Ekpo/Ika Federal Constituency and having failed in that mission, PDP is now turning around to point accusing fingers at our leaders”, they declared.

The APC stakeholders alleged that on the eve of last Saturday’s postponed elections, thugs were brought in by PDP and camped in different locations in the federal constituency.

“In Abak, we can without mincing words mention the following persons without apology and the roles each and every one of them played to actualize this evil machination.
They include, Mr. Ben Ebong, who was in charge of arranging for arms and ammunition which he conveniently distributed to different places on the eve of election, the Secretary of Abak Council, Mr. Ubong Udofia, Mr. Ekerette Inyang, Ekerette Benson, Nnamso Inyang and Iboro Sunday Brown. We also have it on good authority that Ubong Atai Ekpo, Nsemeke Isaiah and Udo George Ekara received ammunitions.

“While we were busy carrying out door to door consultations, the PDP leaders were preparing thugs and harbouring them in places like Enechris Entertainment Center and Lily Homes. The likes of Umoh Ata Umoh, Unwana Ibokette, Boniface Etuk, Papa Inyang, Hon. Friday Iwok, Paul Usanga used their homes to accommodate the thugs.

“Similar exercise was also repeated in Ika and Etim Ekpo Local Government Areas and we challenge them to deny the roles played by the following people: Hon. Uduot Jack, Hon. Udeme Eduo, Hon. Akan Eyo, Barister Utibe Nwoko, Barrister Uwemedimo Nwoko, Hon. Saviour Enyiekere, Hon. Mfon Idung”, the press statement stated.

While calling on Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem to desist from blackmailing APC, the party leaders claimed that he and his accomplices have resorted to “blackmail of innocent people to justify the huge amount of money they have extorted from Governor Udom Emmanuel.”

“Having failed to corrupt police investigations into the killings in Etim Ekpo Local Government Area in concert with the state government, Barrister Enoidem is now resorting to every means available to destroy our leaders. There is a pending case of assassination attempt of Hon. Imo Ibokette by Ukpom Traditional Rulers Council against Barrister Enoidem and another one from Utit Annang Traditional Rulers. He is yet to come clean on those cases and many others.

“Two weeks ago, the convoy of the Honourable Member Representing Abak/Etim Ekpo/Ika Federal Constituency was attacked at the venue of a meeting initiated for peace to return to Ikpe Annang village in Etim Ekpo.

“Midway into the meeting, which had the Village Heads of Iwukem and Ikpe Annang together with a former House of Assembly member, Hon. Akanimo Edet, an indigene of Ikpe Annang in attendance, known hit men of Barrister Enoidem invaded the venue and threatened to ‘waste’ him and eminent personalities if they refuse to leave the place immediately. They managed to escape when they started to attack them”, part of the press statement reads.

The party leaders called on their members to remain law abiding and committed to electing all candidates of the APC in the forthcoming elections.

In a brief remark, DIG Udom Ekpoudom Rtd., said the APC remains unfazed by the antics of the PDP and Barr. Enoidem, adding that security agents will curb any security threat during the elections.
He labelled Enoidem as ‘PDP’s National Illegal Adviser’, saying his ‘illegal advices to the PDP and criminal records are everywhere.’

APC leaders in the federal constituency that attended the media briefing include: Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ekon, Hon. Uwem Udoma, Rt. Hon. Akanimo Edet, Hon. Gabriel Toby,
DIG Udom Ekpoudom (Rtd.), Barr. Chris Okorie, Hon. Richard Ebong, Hon. Jack Mboho and Hon. Innocent Idiong.

Others are: Hon. Emmanuel Udosen, Barr. Victor Nkanang, Mrs. Victoria Mel, Lady Nene Umanah, Hon. Koko Abia, Mr. Itemuwem Eyo and Hon. Joseph Ikpaisong.
